An Interview with a Matched Bettor
This week we’ve got a really interesting post – an interview with a successful matched bettor, who is also a reader of this site and someone that’s made thousands of pounds in profit thanks to our help.
Richard, from the Midlands – we’re keeping the rest of his identity secret because he’s very paranoid about gubbings – spoke to us a few days ago, and here’s what he had to say:
So Richard, where did you first hear about matched betting?
I first came across matched betting whilst I was aimlessly scrolling through Facebook.
I remember seeing an advert that said I could earn £1,000 risk free each month! I decided to check it out to see if it was a scam or whether it really was an opportunity to make money.
What were your first thoughts about matched betting?
My initial thoughts about matched betting were, well, being honest, I didn’t believe it could be as simple as Profit Accumulator made out. £1,000+ profit a month, risk free and tax free…I thought there surely must be a catch.
How long did it take you to start, and what persuaded you to do so?
If I’m completely honest it took me months to actually try it out. I was reluctant just because it seemed too good to be true.
I kept revisiting the advert I had seen and kept thinking, can this really work?
I decided to do a little bit of research on matched betting myself and that’s when I came across this site. I found out exactly what I would be doing and how the money is actually made! So, finally, me and a friend decided we would go for it.
How much money did you start off with?
I was able to spare £250 to start my matched betting journey. This proved to be plenty and I was able to increase my bankroll really quickly.
How much money did you make in profit in your first month, and how much work did you put into achieving this?
During my first month I started really slowly, I wanted to get to grips with the whole idea so I was doing one sign up offer at a time. It was probably taking me 10 minutes per night!
As I went through the offers I was really grasping the idea quite quickly, so towards the end of the month I decided to try more and more offers out, including ‘reload offers’ where you complete offers with the same bookmakers that you’ve already completed a sign-up offer with.
These do take a little more time and not all of them are 100% risk-free (but they’re close!) but by the time I’d reached these I’d already built my bankroll up by around £1,000, so I was able to do more than one offer at a time meaning I could make more money.
How many months have you been doing it overall, and how much profit have you made since starting?
I’ve been matched betting for 4 months now and can happily say I’ve made just over £5,000! In my best month i made just shy of £2,000, which was the month of the Gold Cup!
I really enjoy matched betting so I couldn’t be happier earning loads of money doing something I would say is fun!
Have you been gubbed from any/many sites?
I have been gubbed from two bookie websites – it’s just a part of matched betting unfortunately – these being BetBright and Coral.
This was completely my fault and happened due to me not doing enough mug betting. I would advise to try keep all the bookies happy with your account.
The big 5 you need to keep are WilliamHill, Bet365, Ladbrokes, PaddyPower and SkyBet, as these are the ones that continuously have the best offers.
What do you think about the future of matched betting?
Matched betting seems to be growing by the day as more people are realising that this isn’t a scam, it’s a real legit way of making risk free cash each month.
I can only see it growing, even though people often fear for its future. We’re happy, and the bookies are happy as long as we make sure we give enough value back to them in the form of good mug betting.
Thanks for speaking to us Richard, good luck continuing with your matched betting career!
